On Monday, December 2nd, 10th grade Intro to Visual and Commercial Art students attended a field trip to the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisico.
Students worked in groups and learned how to create short, stop motion animated films using the mult-plane method, which is a plexiglass box that allows for foreground, middleground and background layers. Using mounted cameras and keyboard shortcuts, students were able to work with professional equpitment to create their short films.
Along with creating animations, students also participated in a tour of the exibits, where we saw original cell paintings from Disney films such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi, Alice in Wonderland and Lady and the Tramp. Students learned about the evolution of Micky Mouse and were able to see Disney’s original sketches for the character.
Luckily, this is an annual VPA trip that all 10th Grade Visual Art students have the opportunity to attend!
