On September 20th, 10th Grade SVPA students participated in the 2019 Global Climate Strike. In their History, English, and Chemistry classes, they engaged with meaningful articles, videos, and scientific experiments to explore Climate Change and develop their own opinions on taking climate action. Many of the students crafted signs for the protest that showed their own personal understanding of the effects of climate change, as well as frustration for inaction by political leaders. After the strike, students wrote letters to congresspeople, state legislators, the President, and local officials. For many of the students, this was the first protest that they had attended. Based off the passion these students had, it surely won’t be their last! Listen below to hear a Young Whan Choi interview students attending the March.
